Andy Milne: This is my 18th year teaching health and physical education. Graduating from Exeter University, I taught in London, England for 12 years before emigrating to America in 2008. Prior to teaching at New Trier High School I taught at Carmel Catholic and Barrington High School. My aim is to encourage students to become as health literate as possible and to share their knowledge with those around them while advocating for those with less opportunities than themselves. Andy Horne: This is my 12th year teaching high school health and physical education.  In 2015, I had the honor and privilege to be recognized as SHAPE America’s National Health Education Teacher of the Year. Graduating from Indiana University, I taught in Bloomington, IN for year before coming to New Trier High School in 2003.  My goal is to help students develop feelings of self-confidence and self-worth, and to empower them to believe they can accomplish their goals.  I try to passionately lead with enthusiasm, inspire my students to be both health literate and persistent lifelong learners, and provide them the tools to make healthy decisions.  You can follow me on twitter as @MrHorne101 where I mostly tweet about health, physical education and coaching related topics.  Also you can check out my “Scholarly Raps” on YouTube helping bring health topics to life!

  1. Dear Mr. Milne, I understand that you and Sarah Hartman created a skills related to fitness project for your middle school students regarding them to research disney or athletes demonstrating specific skills. I was wondering if you could email me the rubric for this project. thank you

      Yes, you are right, we did brainstorm an idea like that a while ago but it was all Sarah’s work. I just threw in a few ideas for her to consider. You should contact her for any further details and rubrics. I did see the final items and they were very good.
